The New York Yankees have acquired Kendrys Morales and cash considerations from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Morales was designated for assignment by the A's on Monday.

The 35-year-old was hitting .204/.310/.259 in 126 plate appearances.

The A's acquired Morales from the Toronto Blue Jays before the season.
